St. Andrew’s is an Episcopal Parish in Fullerton, CA. Our membership is in the 150 range.

We are seeking a musician to continue our fine tradition of Anglican Church Music and Worship.

The candidate should have the following abilities and duties:

1. Report directly to the Rector.

2. Submit to any background checks and adhere to all requirements from the Diocese.

3. To play the organ and the piano at a highly proficient level for all services of worship at St. Andrew’s which require music, choral accompaniment and to provide appropriate Prelude and Postlude selections.

4. Conduct and nurture the Parish Choir, in a respectful, caring, yet firm manner. The Parish Choir currently consists of 16 volunteer members and currently meets at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings for rehearsal followed by Choral Eucharist at 11 a.m. The choir is off during the summer months. There is a desire to present Evensong Services 2-3 times per year. St. Andrew’s is also considering the addition of paid section leaders for the choir at some future time. The new O/C would be in charge of selecting these singers.

5. To nurture and grow our music program. The candidate should be a positive advocate for music within the parish; encouraging parishioners to share their talents both instrumental and vocal and to foster growth of the Parish Choir.

6. The candidate should be willing, able, and knowledgeable in the direction of children’s voices to work toward the creation of a Treble Choir which would sing in addition to and along with the Parish Choir. It would be desirable to have a familiarity with and use resources from the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM). There should be at least 2 rehearsals per week for this ensemble probably in the neighborhood of 30-45 minutes each.

7. Be in charge of the selection of all music – hymns, service music, anthems, Psalms, etc. for all services which include music. It is the rector’s desire to not micromanage the music program and to give the musician a wide berth in the selection and implementation of music for worship.

8. See to the maintenance and care of the parish musical instruments through qualified technicians.

9. Arrange for and engage instrumentalists as needed, especially for Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday and have the ability to provide and/or create arrangements for them on these occasions.

10. Maintain the Music Library and keep it in an orderly fashion.

11. Work within the constraints of the annual Music Budget. There is a desire to increase the Music Budget in accordance with a growing program.

St. Andrew’s will provide:

1. A nurturing and collegial Christian work environment.

2. Provide an annual salary of $25,000; negotiable for exceptional experience and open for review annually.

3. A contract/letter of agreement outlining requirements for the position and procedures for termination by either party.

4. Instruments available for practice and teaching opportunities.

5. Weddings and Funerals will be compensated per service beyond the stated salary.

Candidates should send a cover letter, and resume to:
