Jesus came into the world to talk about The Kingdom of God. He used parables to attempt to describe it in a way we might understand, if we were willing to listen. The parables grouped together for this coming Sunday do an especially good job of describing one aspect of the Kingdom I think.
All the parables talk about God’s special ingredient that gets added to the mix of creation. It’s an ingredient that causes things to grow and thrive. This ingredient gives life to to everything that lives, no matter what it is or where it exists.
We human beings have done, and are doing some pretty spectacular things. We, after all, have been created in the image of God. But the essence of life is something we can only observe and give thanks to God for. Jesus came to help us understand that.
