Seeds of Hope Garden

Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church 1231 E. Chapman Ave., Fullerton, CA, United States

Volunteers are welcome to help in the garden every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Volunteers help with weeding, pruning, raking, sweeping, sowing seeds, thinning new seedlings, transplanting, harvesting and other gardening tasks depending on the need and the season.  We welcome your help anytime you are available.  Please wear closed toe shoes as our grounds can be uneven, and bring your own gloves if you like.  We have some available if you don’t have your own.  There is very little shade, so plan accordingly. No prior gardening experience is necessary; although healthy knees are important.  All of the harvest from the garden is taken to Pathways of Hope food bank, the HUB.

Event Series Summer Centering Prayer Group

Summer Centering Prayer Group in August

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church 1231 E Chapman Ave, Fullerton, California

In the depths of your being, so much is going on because you care about so much. Centering Prayer is a way to allow God to quietly but firmly let you know that you are loved in the busyness of living. Centering Prayer helps us attend to the natural intimacy with God deep within us. Nothing is required except showing up and quieting the mind—and turning the heart toward God. Centering Prayer is a simple method of prayer that expands one’s receptivity to the presence and activity of God in your life. You sit and allow your heart to open toward God. Whenever a thought comes into your mind, you simply let the thought go and return to an open, silent attending upon the depths within. Not because thinking is bad, but because it pulls you back to the surface of yourself. You use a short word or phrase, known as a ‘sacred word’ (such as ‘abba’ or ‘peace’ or ‘be still’) to help you let go of thoughts. It’s that simple: Sit, Breathe with your sacred Word, Listen. Doing this prayer with others can be profound. We will be facilitating these prayer times on 2nd and 4th Sundays through the summer: […]

EfM: Education for Ministry

Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church 1231 E. Chapman Ave., Fullerton, CA, United States

Are you interested in deepening your life in God, expanding your view of the Bible and Christianity, and sharing that journey with others? Consider joining EfM this fall! In EfM, we worship and pray together, talk about how we’ve experienced God, practice theological reflection, and discuss readings based on Christian scriptures, church history, and theology. This program is offered through The University of the South’s School of Theology and there is a tuition cost of $350 for the 36-week program. If you have the desire and commitment to experience EfM, do not let finances get in the way—there are scholarships available to ensure the cost is not a barrier for anyone. We meet on Monday evenings from September through June. Our start date is Sept. 9, and the deadline to register is August 19. For more information, please contact office@saintandrewsfullerton.com.
