Join the Son Shine Ladies once a month for tea, community, and connection. Their mission is to spread joy and offer support for special occasions or when needed. We provide a hot prepared meal as well as a sack lunch for the following day. Do you have a few hours to spare on Friday nights? Join us at St. Andrew’s Soup Kitchen to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who rarely have a hot meal. Fridays at 5:30 p.m., St. Andrew’s is in need of dedicated volunteers to help serve dinner and assist with cleanup. Join us in the garden every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. We need volunteers to help with tasks like weeding, pruning, sowing seeds, and harvesting. You can come anytime you are available. Please wear closed-toe shoes, as the ground can be uneven, and bring your own gloves if you have them. We also have some available. There is limited shade, so plan accordingly. No experience is needed, but healthy knees are important. All the produce goes to our Soup Kitchen and the Pathways of Hope food bank “The HUB” in Fullerton.

The St. Scholastica book group will meet on Sunday, October 26 at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the Orange Room. We will discuss Joan Chittister’s ‘Wisdom Distilled from the Daily’. Below is a short excerpt from Amazon: “Wise and enduring spiritual guidelines for everyday living –– as relevant today as when The Rule was originally conceived by St. Benedict in fifth century Rome.” Looking ahead, St. Scholastica will collaborate with EfM and read Sue Monk Kidd’s ‘God’s Joyful Surprise.’ EfM will meet on Monday, April 13 to discuss the first half of the book, and St. Scholastica will meet on Sunday, April 19 for discussion of the whole book. EfM members and St. Scholastica members are encouraged to attend both sessions.
